Benefits of Participating in the Ethernet Alliance Booth

With the economy what it is today, participating in an Ethernet Alliance booth is one of the more cost-effective means of displaying your technology at a convention. Below are some of the benefits when demonstrating in an Ethernet Alliance booth:

  • Booth Space with Furniture
  • Logo Display
  • Collateral Distribution
  • PR Representation
  • Leads generation
  • Management of Event
  • And so much more!

The estimated total cost for these services is over $20K. Cost for participating in an Ethernet Alliance booth is $5K. Upcoming 2009 Ethernet Alliance events include DesignCon, Ethernet Technology Summit and Interop. SC08 - Another Successful Ethernet Alliance Show

To commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Ethernet, the Ethernet Alliance demonstrated an Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) server and Storage Area Network (SAN) connected to a Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) and Ethernet converged network at SC08 (November 18-20, Austin, TX). This unique demonstration provided the Ethernet Alliance participants an opportunity to showcase new products/technologies in the Ethernet Alliance booth. The participanting companies were:

Cisco, Extreme Networks, Force10 Networks, Fulcrum, Ixia, Mellanox, Panduit, QLogic, Solarflare, Teranetics and Tyco Electronics.

A special thanks goes out to AMCC and Ixia for their hotstaging accommodations. Also a big thank you to our co-technical coordinators, Charles Seifert (Ixia), Peter Jones (Solarflare) and Ajay Rane (Solarflare).

If you are interesting in participating in an upcoming Ethernet Alliance booth, panel, or sponsored activity, please contact the Events Manager. Also review the Ethernet Alliance website for our upcoming events for 2009.

Ethernet Alliance University Program Networking Mixer

Over 100 students, professors and Ethernet Alliance members attended the Ethernet Alliance University Program <!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->networking mixer at Scholz Garten in downtown Austin on November 18th. The attendees were treated with the opportunity to meet a distinguished panel of speakers. The session was moderated by Blaine Kohl, the Ethernet Alliance Marketing VP and included:

  • Ron Crane, Ethernet Industry Veteran, who presented the history of Ethernet
  • Brad Booth, AMCC and Chair of Ethernet Alliance, spoke regarding the Ethernet ecosystem
  • Harpreet Chadha, Extreme Networks and the Ethernet Alliance Technical VP, talked about the importance of interoperability and how the Ethernet Alliance facilitates
  • Robert Hays, Intel, who discussed higher speed Ethernet
  • Mike Bennett, Lawrence Berkeley Labs, who spoke on energy efficient Ethernet
The evening closed out with live music from a local Austin band.

The Ethernet Alliance also thanks our networking mixer Platinum Sponsor, Sun Microsystems.

The EAUP Launches Internship Program

ea logoSpring Semester is just around the corner! Don't miss out on the opportunity to participate in the EAUP Internship Program!

Through the Ethernet Alliance University Program (EAUP), the Ethernet Alliance facilitates internship opportunities between member organizations and students of Academic Members. The Internship Program is designed as a networking portal to connect candidates with potential internship opportunities.

For more information on how to participate please visit the EAUP Home Page.

Highlighted White Papers

40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet Technology Overview

The IEEE P802.3ba 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s Ethernet Task Force has been working on the development of 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet. In October 2008, the Task Force took a major step forward, as it generated Draft 1.0 of the amendment to the IEEE Std 802.3™- 2008 Ethernet standard. The Task Force has developed a single architecture capable of supporting both 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet, while producing physical layer specifications for communication across backplanes, copper cabling, multi-mode gigabit per second, and single-mode gigabit per second. This white paper provides an overview of the 40 Gigabit Ethernet and 100 Gigabit Ethernet project and the underlying technologies.

Supercomputing 2008 10 Gigabit Ethernet Converged Data Center Demonstration

The Ethernet Alliance converged data center demonstration shows the deployment of several types of mixed traffic over a multi-vendor 10 GbE infrastructure with physical links that consist of both UTP copper, twinax copper and fiber optic media. The SAN/LAN network is converged at Layer 2 using Ethernet as the common transport protocol. The demonstration data center runs 10 GbE application-to-application traffic, iSCSI storage and low latency traffic with a streaming video environment from iSCSI storage, FCoE over a lossless Ethernet network and converged traffic types via virtualized servers. The Ethernet Alliance demonstration shows a physical data center built with equipment from multiple vendors, switches, network interface card (NICs), converged network adapters (CNAs) and cabling systems that supports a complex yet realistic set of 10 GbE application environments.
